In connection with the design of the Dresden–Prague new-build line, engineers must investigate the ground conditions in Heidenau, where the new line will link to the existing rail network.
The first explorations will involve core drilling to gain further knowledge of subsoil conditions. Samples of the soil and bedrock will be taken for geotechnical analysis. The boreholes will be professionally sealed again after completion of the work. Some of the boreholes will be converted into groundwater measurement stations. The groundwater measurements will be used to help plan the line and will also be passed on to the local authorities for documentation purposes.

Information events update the public on project progress and present the next steps. The first events took place in April 2019. Project managers from DB Netz AG, supported by the European Grouping for Territorial Cooperation (EGTC), will attend future events in person to provide you with information about the project and future steps.
A digital information event on 7 October 2020 will inform you about the next steps following the completion of the regional planning procedure and will answer your questions.
